Heidi Samuel’s Opponent Accepts
Invitation to a Public Debate for the Voters
Responding to Samuel’s challenge,
candidates will hold a public debate on October 25th
Columbus, Ohio – On August 31st, Heidi
Samuel, candidate for Columbus City Council, sent a letter
via certified mail to opponent Priscilla Tyson, encouraging
the scheduling of a public debate. Samuel understands
the importance of this fall’s election. With five
city council seats up for election, Columbus voters deserve
to hear both candidates’ positions on the issues facing
Columbus.
In the letter, Samuel wrote, “Meeting with voters, I
have found they are interested in understanding our individual
positions and differences on such issues as economic development,
public safety, and public services. Therefore, I am inviting
you to an open debate on these important issues for the consideration
of our constituents.”
Recently, at Samuel’s urging, Tyson accepted an invitation
from the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce for a public
debate on October 25th. The debate will be held during
the Chamber’s monthly lunch meeting at 11:30am at the
Clintonville
Woman’s Club (3951
North High Street).
"This is a great opportunity for both of us," stated
Samuel. "This stands to be a classic race where
voters can shop the candidate most likely to effectively represent
their concerns and needs. Voters deserve to know where
we stand on the issues and what we hope to accomplish. I
am excited about this opportunity to debate my opponent one-on-one."
Samuel’s run for city council calls for the city to protect,
preserve and improve neighborhoods as a method of
ensuring the city’s long-term health. Her focus
is to restore public safety personnel numbers to necessary
levels, expand the city’s code enforcement program
to prevent continued corrosion and blight, and develop better,
more substantive partnerships with neighborhoods to answer
their unique needs. Samuel is honored to have earned
the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police.
